The use of this plant is useful for people suffering from diabetes, in fact the decoction of the seeds induces a very rapid lowering of the blood sugar level. Popular Italian tradition recommends it to increase milk production in mothers. It is considered an excellent tonic, as it is rich in saponins, which have the effect of stimulating the appetite. It is recommended, as an infusion, 6 grams in 300 of boiling water, for cold infusion 0.5 grams in water for three hours. For powder use, 0.5 to 2 grams per day. For external use, poultice 50 grams of powder in 250 ml of boiling water.
