Fits 5.25inch optical drive bays with Type A and Type B mounting options, and fits 3.5inch floppy drive bays with Type C and Type D mounting options. Audio interface uses the HDAUDIO standard. If the BIOS is currently set to AC97 for the audio output, please switch it back to HDAUDIO to ensure sound from all interfaces. The audio signal is sourced directly from the motherboard. Sound quality depends on the motherboard and the playback device, not on the cabling or the front panel adapter. Inserting the 9pin audio cable will typically trigger a headset insertion prompt. The connector supports a foursection headset and microphone in one unit. Use scenarios Scenario 1: Upgrading a modern desktop with a 5.25inch optical drive bay. Install Type A or B to enable frontpanel audio access while keeping the optical drive functional. Scenario 2: Restoring an older system with a 3.5inch floppy drive bay. Use Type C or D to provide frontpanel audio connectivity without compromising existing drives. Scenario 3: Building a frontpanel audio solution on a or retroinspired PC. Ensure HDAUDIO in the BIOS for full multichannel support and reliable headset/mic use with the 9pin connector.
