Fill the flask to one half capacity with water and seal with the rubber stopper. 2. Light the alcohol lamp beneath the flask to heat the water. 3. Adjust the micro generator bracket so the lower part of the fan approaches the flask air outlet. 4. After a few minutes steam will begin to emit from the outlet. The fan blade will accelerate and the diode will light as the generator produces electricity. 5. Use the experiment to explain steam turbine operation and to explore factors that affect energy conversion efficiency.
