This is a selective guidebook covering the traditional rock climbing and sport climbing in; the Wye Valley and Gloucestershire; Avon and Cheddar in Somerset; plus Portland and Swanage in Dorset. In the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean area, 256 routes are described at 10 crags, which are Huntsham Crags, Symonds Yat, Ruspidge Quarries, Shorn Cliff, Tintern Quarry, Ban-y-Gor Rocks, Wintour’s Leap, Wynd Cliff, Wyndcliff Quarry and Cleeve Hill. In the Avon and Cheddar area 221 routes are described at 10 different crags, which are Trym Valley Gorge, Avon Gorge, Portishead Quarry, Goblin Combe, Brean Down, Brean Fort Crags, Uphill Quarry, Cheddar Gorge, Split Rock Quarry and Fairy Cave Quarry. In the Dorset area 169 routes are described at Portland, Lulworth and Swanage, plus 1 classic ridge route on the Isle of Wight. All the routes are illustrated on clear colour photo topos, with British trad grades or French sport grades if the route is bolted.
