This Cicerone walking Guidebook covers the South Downs Way between Winchester and Eastbourne through the South Downs National Park. It describes the South Downs Way National Trail, a 100 mile (160km) route over 12 stages. The route provides easy walking on ancient and historical tracks, taking in wooded areas, delightful river valleys and pretty villages. It includes an OS map booklet at a scale of 1:25,000 showing the entire route.  A waymarked trail with very few stiles, it can be walked at any time of year and makes a good introduction to long-distance walking. The guidebook splits the route into 12 stages of up to 12 miles (19km) long, with the route being described in both east-west and west-east directions.  Step-by-step route descriptions are given for each stage that are illustrated with extracts from OS maps at a scale of 1:50,000.
