SHAPTON 50101 sharpening water stone 220 grit A sensational series of SHAPTON sharpening stones, where the abrasive layer is combined with a specially prepared layer of tempered glass, which stabilizes the entire stone. Full description of the grit, grain thickness and catalog number is placed on the glass, so you can use the entire abrasive layer without worrying about identifying the stone. The excellent bonding of glass with abrasive allows you to use the grinding surface to the last millimeter without worrying about the stone crumbling.  The unique structure of Glass Stone stones with very high grain uniformity allows you to sharpen any knife very effectively. This also affects the durability of the stone, which wears out extremely slowly and occasionally requires leveling. The stones from the Glass Stone series are among the hardest on the market.  When using SHAPTON brand stones for the first time, they should be soaked in water for about 6 minutes. The specially developed "Splash&Go" technology prevents the stone from absorbing too much water.
