SCHUROCO® TEICHFILTER start, 500 g
Product description: Schuroco's pond filter starter is specially formulated to break down organic compounds in pond water. These microorganisms are applied to a porous inorganic carrier using a spray-drying process. The colony-forming units (CFU) in the package are at least 1.0 x 10⁷/g. Contained bacteria species: Pseudomonas spp., Xanthomonas spp., Arthrobacter spp., Bacillus licheniformis, Micrococcus spp. The carrier material releases small amounts of magnesium silicate into the pond water. Unlike conventional filter technology without starter bacteria, leaving residual sludge in the filter after cleaning is not beneficial and is actually detrimental to the colonization of the starter bacteria. Biological activity is established very quickly after adding the pond filter starter. The bacteria contained in Schuroco's pond filter starter ensure that the filter is immediately colonized upon restarting or cleaning, forming a biological film on the filter material. This biological structure is stable and resilient after a maximum of 48 hours, meaning that even after this short time, shock loads from overdosing on nutrients, etc., are reliably broken down into harmless carbon dioxide and water. In isolated cases, with a very high organic load in the pond, slight cloudiness of the water may occur immediately after adding the pond filter starter bacteria, as the bacteria multiply in the pond water itself due to the high organic load. However, this cloudiness disappears on its own after a short time, as the bacteria are mechanically retained within the filter by its operation. With the organic load typically found in ponds, cloudiness usually only occurs temporarily due to the release of fine particles from the filter media. This too disappears very quickly. If you think you can forgo inoculating the pond filter, the growth of bacteria on the filter material is more or less left to chance. Optimal biological capacity is only established after at least four weeks. This is because the colonization of the filter then depends on airborne germs falling into the pond, which are more or less suitable for water purification. A germ concentration of 10-100 germs per kg of filter material can be assumed here. In contrast, there are 10⁷/g of optimally adapted bacteria in the pond filter starter. Therefore, pond water purification is not left to chance here, but rather stable conditions are achieved in a very short time. Only this makes complete water purification possible. Purely mechanical methods can only remove suspended solids, not organic matter.
