- SMA antenna socket: The device uses a universal SMA port, offering better availability of adapters and antennas than the less common MCX or PAL connectors. SMA is more durable and typically has lower RF insertion losses, improving overall reliability and performance. - Hardware and design improvements: Powered by R820T2 tuners and high quality passive components. A throttle on the USB line reduces USB noise, and the PCB design minimizes internal spurs and noise. Includes various breakout pads, enhanced ESD protection, additional bypass capacitors and ferrite power chokes, an improved front-end adjustment circuit, and a better LDO for stable operation. - RF reception in direct sampling: Listen from 100 kHz to 25 MHz with direct sampling. Connect an RF antenna to the SMA port and select the Q branch. A built-in 25 MHz low-pass filter is present, but external RF filters may be required to dampen strong MW AM for optimal performance. - Cooling and enclosure: Comes with a large aluminium housing designed for passive cooling through cooling holes, aided by the aluminum construction. The PCB is optimized for passive cooling to maintain performance up to higher frequencies, reducing the risk of reception degradation above ~1.2 GHz.
