Description

Artfully designed Viking band ring made of 925 sterling silver. The ring bears the inscription "Thor" in runes and is also decorated with two flashes. width: about 6 mm, Weight: about 4-5 g (depending on size). The ring is partially oxidized, so that the design comes into its own. Background: According to Norse mythology, the weather and thunderstorm god Thor was the protector of Midgard, of the human world. With his powerful war hammer Mjölnir ("Blitz") he destroyed all his enemies. Runen were used by the Germanic peoples from the 2nd to the 14th century, especially for inscriptions on stone. Most of the surviving runic inscriptions come from Viking Age Scandinavia.
