Solgar Fitosterol Complex contains phytosterols, a group of natural compounds found in plant cell membranes. Provides 900 mg of sterol esters including beta-sitosterol, stigmasterol, campesterol, and brassicasterol. Phytosterols are fatty acid esters found in plants and have a molecular structure very similar to that of blood lipoproteins. Sources of phytosterols include vegetable oils, nuts and their oils, seeds, cereals and some types of beans. Due to their similar structure to that of blood lipoproteins, plant sterols are believed to be involved in lipoprotein synthesis and reduce lipoprotein production and absorption. Phytosterols contribute to maintaining normal blood lipoprotein levels; this beneficial effect is obtained with a minimum daily intake of 0.8 g of phytosterols or phytostanols. For adults, take two (2) capsules twice a day, preferably with meals. swallow the capsules with an adequate amount of water or other beverage (at least 250 ml). the recommended daily dose for this product should not be exceeded.
