Carefully crafted bronze pendant "Irminsul". The pendant is partially blackened on the front, so that the artistic design comes into its own. The Irmin column is surrounded by a rune ring. Dimensions: approx. 24 mm Diameter Internal dimensions of the eyelet: approx. 4 mm high x approx. 3.2 mm wide Weight: approx. 3 g The pendant is delivered including a black cotton band. Meaning of the symbols: The Irminsul was the highest sanctuary of the pagan Saxons in the early Middle Ages. The name roughly means "big pillar". Researchers suspect that this pillar was a vertically erected tree trunk that was supposed to carry the entire universe. More details are not known, because Charlemagne destroyed the sanctuary in 772. Nevertheless, Irminsul is often interpreted as a world tree and thus associated with the tree of life Yggdrasil. The runes represent the 24 characters of the so-called older Futhark. This runic alphabet was used by the Germanic tribes until the 8th century.
