Lutein se přirozeně získává z květů měsíčku lékařského, které obsahují širokou škálu karotenoidů, včetně zeaxantinu.POPIS:Luteinje oranžovo-červený karotenoidní pigment produkovaný rostlinami. Jeho potravou je barevné ovoce a zelenina. V těle je lutein jedním z převládajících pigmentů soustředěných v makule uvnitř oka, v oblasti odpovědné za centrální vidění. Navíc se hromadí v kožní tkáni. Funkční úlohou luteinu v těchto citlivých tkáních je chránit před tvorbou volných radikálů vyvolaných slunečním zářením.
