Black cumin is the tiny, mature seed of the flower of the common fennel (Nigella sativa), from the Mediterranean region. It is a highly regarded seed in Ayurveda medicine for its extensive medicinal properties: it is used to treat fever, cough, asthma, headache, obesity, diabetes, pain, infection, inflammation, gastrointestinal disorders, dysentery and other ailments such as diabetes, asthma., obesity, as well as hepatitis C. Black cumin contains 58% fatty acids, mostly omega 3 and 6. These are necessary for the formation of prostaglandin E1 with anti-inflammatory and analgesic functions.
