Wholegrain long grain glutinous rice is a type of rice that becomes sticky when cooked. It's an excellent choice, especially for making desserts. Glutinous doesn't mean it contains gluten, so it's suitable for people with gluten intolerance. It contains “Amylopectin” which is responsible for that glutinous and sticky quality. This rice, rich in amylopectin, has a greater capacity to absorb flavor after cooking. It is a good source of carbohydrates and proteins. Contains vitamins B1, B3, A, C, D and folic acid. It also contains minerals such as phosphorus, magnesium and potassium. It is recommended to soak it for at least 4 hours and then boil or steam it. Black glutinous rice is mainly used in desserts, such as rice pudding. In Asia, it's a typical sweet snack, made with coconut milk and sugar. Store at room temperature, protected from sunlight.
