Fibractase contains 1200 units per capsule of the digestive enzyme alpha-galactosidase. Alpha-galactosidase reduces the risk of gas formation during the digestion of complex carbohydrates, such as fructans and galactans. Fructans and galactans are complex, difficult-to-digest carbohydrates that belong to the FODMAP group, a group of fermentable carbohydrates. Complex carbohydrates, such as fructans and galactans, cannot be digested in the small intestine. These indigestible carbohydrates pass into the large intestine, where they are fermented by intestinal bacteria. The digestive enzyme alpha-galactosidase aids in the digestion of these complex carbohydrates by breaking them down into smaller sugars in the small intestine. It is recommended to take the capsules immediately before or with the first bite of food. If you have trouble swallowing, you can open the capsules and take the contents loose, or dissolve them in a glass of water. Recommended dosage: Take 1 to 3 capsules per serving. Maximum daily dose: A maximum of 15 capsules per day. Enzymatic activity: Enzymes are effective 30 to 45 minutes after ingestion. Age: The capsules can be used from 2 years of age.
