The Chinese bupleur (Bupleurum chinense DC.) Is a one meter tall umbelliferous perennial native to central and eastern China. Its long, thin leaves resemble those of fennel, and its yellow flowers form fine clusters. Over the centuries, its culture has spread to Asia and Europe. It is harvested in spring and autumn; the stems and leaves are removed, then the root is naturally dried in the sun.
