It is usually the flower that is consumed, although the most beneficial substances are concentrated in the leaves. Artichoke leaves contain a substance called cynarine, one of the most notable active ingredients of this plant. It is mainly consumed for the following therapeutic properties:
Digestive : cynarin stimulates the production of bile in the liver, which helps in the digestion of fats. For this reason, artichoke is often recommended for slow and heavy digestions, accompanied by aerophagia or heartburn. Hepatoprotective : artichoke leaf extract has liver protective properties.
Black radish ( Raphanus sativus L. var niger ) belongs to the cruciferous family, which are rich in sulfur compounds such as glucosinolates.
