Betaine HCL FS is a food supplement based on betaine, also known as Trimethylglycine. It is a derivative of choline, that is, choline is a precursor to betaine, which synthesizes it together with the amino acid glycine. The name betaine comes from the first food from which it was isolated, namely from beets, and from the Latin Beta Vulgaris. Betaine is a nonessential nutrient and a source of hydrochloric acid, a naturally occurring chemical in the stomach that breaks down fats and proteins.
