How to machine wash silk Choose a low heat setting (30-40°C) and a gentle program e.g. delicate wash/silk. Only wash silk items with similar colors to avoid the color Fall. Use a mild detergent intended for delicate fabrics, e.g. ours from Grevinnans Rum. Place extra fragile items in a laundry bag or pillowcase to protect them from the drum of the washing machine. How to wash silk by hand Fill a bowl with lukewarm water. Add some detergent and then place your silk items in the bowl. Gently move the clothes around in the bowl to facilitate the cleaning process. Once clean, drain the water and rinse each item of clothing separately in cold water until all detergent residue is gone. How to dry silk Getting the drying process right is equal important as washing correctly when it comes to silk. Never wring your silk garments as this can leave permanent creases and risk breaking the fibers. Squeeze out excess water gently and then dry them with a clean towel. Feel free to hang dry, but avoid direct sunlight or heat.
